DirecTV for Business: Control Every Receiver From One Dashboard
DirecTV receivers have had a network control interface for years — most venues just never had anything to point at it. That is the piece Game Day Control replaces: instead of a drawer of remotes, every receiver in the building answers to one dashboard.
It speaks the receivers native protocol over your existing network, so there is no new hardware in the signal path, no IR blasters, and nothing to re-run behind the walls.
What this fixes
Receivers hidden in a rack nobody can reach
Control happens over the network, so it does not matter where the receivers live or whether a remote has line of sight.
Genie Minis are their own puzzle
Minis are controlled through their Genie server with the right client address — set once in the app, then each TV behaves like any other.
Package channels are hard to find
Search the guide for NFL Sunday Ticket, MLB Extra Innings, NBA League Pass, NHL Center Ice, and MLS Direct Kick — and game cards resolve the right package channel automatically.
The listed network is not always the right one
A game listed on a local brand is matched against real listings, so you tune the channel actually carrying it in your market — not the one the schedule guessed.
How it works
- 1Put each receiver on your network and turn on external device access (our Help guide has the exact menu path).
- 2Add each receiver in the app with a name that matches the TV it feeds.
- 3Tune, schedule, and monitor every receiver from the dashboard.
- 4Add a small on-site connector if you want control and live status from off-site too.

Frequently asked questions
Can I control DirecTV receivers over my network?+
Yes. Networked DirecTV receivers expose a control interface that Game Day Control uses to change channels, send remote commands, and read what each receiver is currently tuned to — no IR hardware required.
Which DirecTV receivers are supported?+
HR44 and HR54 Genies (recommended), HR34, HR20 through HR24 DVRs, H21 through H25 receivers, and Genie Minis controlled through their Genie server. The Genie 2 (HS17) has no external control interface and cannot be controlled — worth knowing before an install.
Does it work with NFL Sunday Ticket and other packages?+
Yes. Package channel ranges are searchable in the guide, and out-of-market game cards resolve to the package channel carrying the game, tagged so staff know which subscription it comes from.
Do I need to enable anything on the receivers first?+
One setting per receiver: Whole-Home, External Devices, External Access set to Allow. Our Help section shows the exact menu path with screens.
