Settings walks you through it in order: choose how you control (a browser on the venue network, or a Raspberry Pi command bridge), scan for your DirecTV receivers — Genie servers and Mini clients included — then add your smart TVs and pick the box and HDMI input each one uses. Older TVs get a Roku or a Pi. Run a video matrix? Switch TV Setup to Matrix mode.

The dashboard lists every live and upcoming game with the DirecTV channel it is on, checked against the TV guide for your zip code. Bars with NFL Sunday Ticket for Business see the exact Sunday Ticket channel. Tap Tune and pick the TVs — or let the Auto Scheduler plan the whole day, with a pregame on each TV before kickoff.

The TV puts up the pregame, then switches to the game itself
Schedule a game with a pregame and each TV shows a countdown in its own web browser — matchup, logos, time to kickoff — while the box tunes in the background. At kickoff the TV switches to the DirecTV input on its own.
Works on LG, Samsung, Vizio, Fire TV, Google TV and Roku TVs, and on any older TV with a Roku or a Raspberry Pi. In a matrix venue, it switches each TV to its matrix feed instead.

How do I control all the TVs in my bar from one place?+
Game Day Control connects to your DirecTV receivers over your existing network. Every TV gets a name in one dashboard, and staff change any screen — or all of them — from a phone, tablet, or computer. No remotes, no ladders, no walking the floor during a rush.
Can I use an iPad or iPhone to control the TVs?+
Yes. Get the Game Day Control app from the App Store: on the venue network, iPads and iPhones control your receivers and TVs directly, with no extra hardware. The dashboard also runs in Safari, but Apple does not let a web page talk directly to devices on your local network, so from Safari you add a command bridge: a Raspberry Pi or PC on the venue network that relays commands to your receivers. A command bridge also lets you control TVs from anywhere, not just on-site. Web browsers on a PC or Mac and the Android app control TVs directly too.
Does it work with Roku players and Roku TVs?+
Yes. Add any Roku player or Roku TV on your network and staff get a full remote in the dashboard: home, back, navigation, volume, power, and one-tap launching of any installed app, with favorites pinned for the apps you use most. When a game is streaming-only, such as on ESPN+ or Peacock, the game card shows a Watch on Roku button that opens the right app on the Roku you choose. Game Day Control checks which apps each Roku actually has installed, so it only offers ones that will open. Roku control works over your local network from a PC, Mac, or the iOS or Android app, and through the command bridge from off-site.
Does Game Day Control work with DirecTV for Business?+
Yes. It is built for DirecTV receivers and speaks their native network control interface: HR44/HR54 Genies, HR20-HR24 DVRs, H21-H25 receivers, and Genie Minis through their Genie server. No IR blasters or extra hardware in the signal path.
Can I schedule TV channel changes before a game starts?+
Yes. Pick any upcoming game and pick the TVs: the cable box changes channel just before air, even if nobody is at the dashboard. Add a pregame and each TV shows a countdown screen first, then switches itself to the game at kickoff. The Auto Scheduler plans a whole day at once: pick the games, and it pairs them up on your boxes by air time and expected end, and a late game switches over when the game before it goes final.
Does it control smart TVs like LG, Samsung, Vizio, Fire TV and Google TV?+
Yes. A Raspberry Pi on the venue network (the command bridge) controls LG webOS, Samsung Tizen (2016 and newer), Vizio SmartCast, Amazon Fire TV, Google TV and Roku TVs over the network. The TV’s own web browser shows the pregame screen, scoreboards and menus, so there is no extra box behind it, and at kickoff the TV switches itself to the DirecTV input. Staff can also wake, sleep and switch inputs from the dashboard. Older TVs without a browser get a Roku or a Raspberry Pi, which switches the TV over HDMI-CEC.
Does it work with a video matrix or AV-over-IP system?+
Yes. Set TV Setup to Matrix mode and scheduling becomes two steps: pick the cable box for the game, then the TVs routed to it. That box changes channel, and each TV shows its pregame and switches to the input the matrix feed comes in on. Game Day Control does not drive the matrix routing itself yet.
When do I need a command bridge?+
A command bridge is a Raspberry Pi or PC that stays on at the venue and relays commands to your equipment. You do not need one to change channels on the spot: a web browser on a PC or Mac, the Android app, or the iOS app on the venue network controls your DirecTV receivers and Roku players directly. You need a command bridge for: (1) smart TVs: LG, Samsung, Vizio, Fire TV, Google TV and Roku TVs are driven by the bridge, including their pregame screens and the switch to the DirecTV input at kickoff; (2) older TVs with a Roku or Raspberry Pi that switches inputs over HDMI-CEC; (3) schedules that run on their own: without a bridge, scheduled channel changes only fire while someone has the dashboard open on the venue network; (4) control from off-site, or from Safari on an iPad or iPhone, because a web page cannot reach devices on your local network. One Raspberry Pi can be both the command bridge and a display kiosk.
Can I run digital signage and TV channels from the same system?+
Yes. The same account plays image playlists on signage screens, drives live jumbotron and box-score displays, and controls TV channels — so venues do not need a separate signage product.
What media types can I upload for digital signage?+
Images today — JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP, up to 1 GB each, arranged into playlists with a display time per image. Video playlists are coming soon.
